Community Empowerment of Taro Village, Tegalalang, Gianyar Regency In the Development of Biodiversity-Based Edutourism

The Village Community Service Program has been carried out with the activity title "Empowerment of the Taro Village Community, Gianyar Regency in the Development of Biodiversity-Based Educational Tourism" by the Undergraduate, Masters and Doctoral Programs of Biology, FMIPA, Udayana University. This activity was carried out at Tegal Dukuh Camp, Taro Village, Tegalalang, Gianyar - Bali on Saturday, September 21, 2024. One month before, a location survey had been conducted regarding the existence of plants that play a role in the diversity of fauna (fireflies, birds and other fauna) to support biodiversity-based educational tourism. Previously, coordination was also carried out with the Tegal Dukuh Camp Manager (Wayan Wardika) and the Tegal Dukuh Taro Organic Farmer Group (KTO) regarding the community service activities that would be carried out. At the opening of the Village Development Grant Community Service Program, a report on community service activities was delivered by the Head of the Program (Dra. Luh Luh Putu Eswaryanti Kusuma Yuni, M.Sc., Ph.D., a speech by the Tegal Dukuh Camp manager and the event was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Udayana University. The core activities consisted of a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and the handover of tree seedlings to members of the Tegal Dukuh KTO. The FGD presented four speakers, namely (1) Prof. Dra. Ni Luh Watiniasih, M.Sc., Ph.D. (Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Udayana University) who delivered a presentation on the Biology and Ecology of Fireflies; (2) Margaretha Noviani (Firefly Conservation House) on fireflies conservation in Tegal Dukuh Camp; (3) I Made Sugiarta (FNPF), on Bali Starling conservation by FNPF; and (4) Made Gde Suryawan (KPS Ayuning Ulu) on Ecotourism based on waterfall management in the Village Kedisan Gianyar. The second main event is the handover of plant seeds. The plant seeds were received by each member of KTO Tegal Dukuh, each member received 3 types of seeds, namely cempaka kuning, sandat susun and juwet nasi. The outcome of this activity is the preservation of flora and fauna and community empowerment in the development of biodiversity-based educational tourism.
